Prayer times, the Qur’an, dhikr, and a place to ask — built so that the answers can be checked and the private things stay private.
Your location stays on your phone
Prayer times need coordinates. Qandil computes them on your device. Your latitude and longitude are never sent to our servers, never logged, and never sent to analytics. Our server holds a time zone, nothing finer.
Reminders are scheduled on the device too. We deliberately avoid push notifications for prayer times, because a push server would have to know your prayer times — and those reveal where you are.
Every answer carries a citation, or there is no answer
Ask a question and Qandil answers only from verified sources, with the reference attached. If it cannot find a verified source, it says so rather than guessing.
On matters that need a scholar — divorce, inheritance, declaring someone outside the faith, sectarian dispute, medical-religious questions — it declines and points you to a qualified person. That is deliberate.
Your questions are not kept
We record that a question was asked so we can keep a fair daily limit. We do not store the question text, and we do not store the answer.
